Reflecting on the food and drink innovations we saw at the International Food & Drink Event (IFE) in London last week, four key themes were:
🍓 🍌 Indulgent fruit goodness
Pukpip whole banana on a stick dipped in dark or milk chocolate and freshly frozen, Patagonian Franui freshly frozen raspberries in two layers of chocolate and Dirty Cow’s ‘Hail Mary Berry’ 55% cocoa plant-based hand-made chocolate with real raspberries and strawberries

🥑 🦗 Snacks made with new, added-value ingredients
Yumma vegan puffs made with avocado powder and (for the more adventurous!) Saved puffs with cricket protein – more sustainable than meat, more digestible than pea protein and as much protein per pack as a whole egg

🥤 Functional water-based drinks
Fhirst from Belgium – ‘living soda’ with active cultures and chicory inulin to support immunity, brain and gut health

🍰 🥞 And a touch of nostalgic comfort (to balance all that ‘healthy stuff’!)
Sweetvision’s take on the sprinkle-cake, so well-loved from school days in the UK and with teenage-dream variants like Oreos, and Grandpa’s Cakes – little pieces of childhood in the form of rich juicy fruitcakes
